:: DAVE WALDRON ::

Dave Waldron is a qualified professional engineer who departed the electricity supply industry after a career spanning 25 years, including 15 years senior management level experience in one of the world’s largest utilities, ESKOM.

Throughout his time with ESKOM he was exposed to all facets of business management, and world- class management practices. He was instrumental in identifying and developing engineering management and professional potential from both existing and previously disadvantaged employees (several of his protégés have since reached senior levels in Eskom, including his own previous position)

During his career he fulfilled assignments as an accountable line manager (in both technical and business support  disciplines), and  in major  business process  re-engineering  and  information management development activities as a team leader (project manager).

After leaving ESKOM he was contracted to coordinate the pre-unicity preparation activities of 7 local authority electricity undertakings due to be combined in the new City of Cape Town, and facilitate and compile the first integrated entity business plan and future structuring alternatives. He also designed and conducted a senior and middle manager orientation / team building workshop for the interim electricity organisation.

He later joined the project management team (as an independent associate) with Price Waterhouse Coopers,  tasked with the pre-implementation phase of creating Business Units for the Electricity, Water, and Solid Waste Services in City of Cape Town, in the capacity of Project Manager (Electricity BU).

He subsequently project managed the initial phase of the City’s participation in the pilot program of the country’s rationalisation of the electricity distribution restructuring.

Dave has a reputation for being able to quickly identify the crux of a matter and develop and carry out an action plan to resolve it. He is also skilled in seeing issues as part of a “bigger picture” and analysing situations in terms of systems and processes.

A long-term “hands-on” exposure to participative management practices has enabled him to develop team facilitation expertise and the ability to identify and modify the interactive dynamics of a group.

He is enthusiastic about organisational and people development as well as business performance management, and has a desire to assist teams run their business better.

Dave is equally at home in “technical” and “business support” environments and can relate well with executive, professional and operational staff in all areas of an enterprise.
